Third Street Corridor Improvements
The installation of a vehicular bridge across Paradise Creek at Third Street west of Mountain View Road has been contemplated by the City since at least the 1990's. Due to a variety of factors, the bridge has not been previously installed. With the 2014 adoption of the Multimodal Transportation Plan, there was recognition that completion of the Third Street Corridor between Main Street and Mountain View Road needed to be accomplished. Construction of the bridge is included in the 2018 City Budget and will occur during the summer of 2018. In recognition of anticipated changes in traffic patterns due to the bridge installation, the Transportation Plan recommended traffic calming measures be implemented in the Third Street Corridor concurrent with the bridge construction. The City's Transportation Commission was given the task of assisting the City with an assessment of the Corridor to determine opportunities for improvements from Washington Street to Mountain View Road.
A working sub-group of the Commission met in November and early December to research and identify potential traffic calming and multimodal improvement options for the corridor. The findings of the sub-group were presented to the Transportation Commission on December 14th. The next phase of the Corridor assessment is gathering public input and feedback on the identified options. There are several ways to learn more about the options and to provide input:
